Seed-distribution event in Uzbekistan

On  Sunday, May 5th, ICARDA is organizing a Seed Distribution event in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (districts Khodjeyli and Amudaryo) in Uzbekistan to distribute se seed of the improved, early maturing mungbean variety "Durdona" of mungbeans to farmers. In the presence of farmer representatives as well as other agricultural stakeholders and partners in the region, ICARDA scientists will explain the benefits of the "Durdona" mungbean variety and provide information on its improved method of cultivation. This is the second year of seed distribution activity following the successful cultivation of this mungbean variety by 54 farmers on 148 ha in the Aral Sea region in 2023. 

 The event, titled "Scaling out the cultivation of the Durdona variety of short-duration mungbeans," is co-organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Karalpakstan and the EcoAral project (Ecologically Oriented Development in the Aral Sea Region) and funded by GIZ.
