HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

A strong and varied extracurricular program serves to broaden the educational experience of students.   Depending upon the strengths and skills of our staff, activities may vary from year to year.  For 2005-2006 we will be offering a variety of sports, Model United Nations, Student Council, Grad Council, School Drama productions, Nesa Math Challenge, and various other CAS activities such as the “What's 4 Lunch?” business. All high school students maintain a CAS transcript on which they keep track of the contributions in Creativity, Action and Service.

Sports and Intramurals

Our teams compete against schools and clubs in the Aleppo area as well as in invitational tournaments with other international schools.  Varsity and Junior Varsity teams are organized in the three main sports of volleyball, soccer and basketball. At various times throughout the year, events such as 3 vs. 3 basketball and volleyball tournaments are held.  In addition, we have the Fall and Spring Follies which are a series of fun, high participation noon hour.

Model United Nations

This year MUN has been revived and 15 students will be participating. These students were chosen through an interview process after qualifying based on academics. They will be traveling to Qatar to attend an international MUN sponsored by Georgetown University .

 Student Council

The IISA Student Council exists to:

•  represent the views of the student body;
•  enhance the quality of school life by organizing various events and activities;
•  assist with school wide events where requested;
•  develop leadership and organizations skills;
•  represent students at when discipline committees are convened.

Grad Council

Each year the Grad Council works closely with staff to fundraise for and to organize the graduation ceremony which takes place in June at the Aleppo Citadel.

Drama Productions

While this year's drama productions have not yet been chosen we look fondly back at terrific productions in the past such as last year's Scrooge.
