Arabic A2 IB Standard and Higher Level

Arabic A2 is designed for speakers with a high level of competence and includes study of literature as well as language. Over two years the course aims to develop students' oral and written skills in a variety of styles situation, media and contexts. It also seeks to develop students' ability to examine text critically. Students should benefit from personal growth and development with the international community and a greater insight into Arab culture. The Arabic course aims to enable students to speak and write effectively and accurately in Arabic; to understand and respond to what they hear, read and experience. It encourages students to appreciate the variety of language, promote their personal development and understanding of themselves and others, and complement other areas of study by development of more general linguistic skills.

 

Arabic Ab-initio IB Standard Level Only

This is a two year course designed for students who have no previous knowledge of Arabic. It aims to develop their ability to communicate in speech and writing and to deal adequately with familiar and practical needs. It will also introduce students to Arabic culture and encourage positive attitudes to the learning of Arabic and to Arabic speakers.

  

Advanced Arabic

This course is designed for students who have taken Arabic IGCSE courses but are likely to have difficulty with Arabic IBS. In this course emphasis is placed upon developing the four language skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing.
