French

This course aims to develop the ability to use French effectively in all countries where French is spoken. It should form a sound basis for the skills and attitude required for further work, study and leisure. It offers an insight into French culture and civilization including literature. It encourages positive attitudes towards foreign language learning and towards other peoples, cultures and civilizations while complementing other areas of study by developing more general skills.

 

French IGCSE

This is the continuation of French IGCSE 1 and leads to the student taking the IGCSE examination in May/June. The latter part of the course will be preparatory for French IBS.

 

French A2 IBS

This course aims to develop students' powers of oral and written expression and provide them with the opportunity to practice and develop written and spoken skills in a variety of styles and situations. It should encourage appreciation of a range of texts and of the techniques for their study and criticism. It also aims to promote insight into and appreciation of French culture and the relationship of French to other languages. The course focuses on topics such as global issues and society and on the study of a selection of literary texts.

 

French A2 IBH

This is an advanced French language, literature and civilization course which stresses writing skills, text analysis, critical thinking as well as communicative competence and performance. Students will take the French A2 IB Higher Level examination in May.
