History IGCSE

This course focuses on World History in the twentieth century. It builds on the historical skills and concepts acquired in the previous grades and provides a sound basis for the study of History at IB level. The most important aims of the course are to stimulate interest in and enthusiasm about the past and provide a basis for further study and the pursuit of personal interest; to encourage international understanding, and to encourage the development of linguistic and communication skills alongside an understanding of the historical concepts of cause, change and the problems of evidence.

History IGCSE

This is the continuation of History IGCSE 1 and leads to the student taking the IGCSE examination in May/June. The latter part of the course will be preparatory for History IBS.

History

This is a two year course which leads to the student taking the IB Standard or Higher level examination. It centers on a thematic approach to twentieth century world history themes such as war, single party states and East-West relations, supported by an in-depth study of the twentieth century period. The course seeks to promote international understanding and an interest in the past as well as to develop student's ability to use and communicate historical knowledge and understanding. It aims to make students aware of the qualitative nature of evidence.
