Club Supervisor
ICARDA Sports and Social Club

The ICARDA Sports and Social Club (ISSC) has an immediate vacancy for the position of Club Supervisor at the Club facilities at Office 1. The position is open to all members of the ICARDA community, including regular staff, spouses and ISSC members.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The ISSC committee is seeking a service-orientated person to fill the position of Club Supervisor. The appointee's primary role is to supervise and organize the overall operations of ISSA and to assist the ISSC Committee to create an efficient, friendly and accommodating atmosphere at the Club while maintaining its services and facilities at a high standard. The position requires a person who is proactive, self-motivated, able to take initiative where appropriate and work without close supervision. The Club Supervisor is directly responsible to the ISSC Chairperson.

Specific duties include:
The overall coordination and supervision of the ISSC in all its functions and services
Maintain friendly and efficient relations with Club members.
Develop the club kitchen.
Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
Sell quality food and drinks at the canteen.
Manage the bar stocks to ensure a regular and diverse supply of drinks and snacks.
Use a computer and account-keeping software provided to manage cash purchases.
Supervise the support staff at the ISSC.
Ensure that only members and their guests gain access to the Club's services and facilities.
Supervise bookings or reservations for the courts and other recreational facilities.
Report problems to the Chairperson and/or the ISSC Committee Members.
Keep sports items readily available and in good condition.
Take appropriate action when the ISSC rules and regulations are being violated by users.
S/he will be responsible for regular financial and operational reports as needed.
Establish and maintain an inventory system for the Club.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Spoken and written English is essential, as is a basic knowledge and understanding of Arabic.
Minimum of 3 years in a business administration or service/hospitality orientated job.
University qualifications in services, hospitality or business management and administration area of study is highly desirable.
Experience in the catering field
  Experience in managing daily cash income from sales.
  Experience using a computer.
  Ability to demonstrate an excellent service orientation.
  Ability to work without close supervision and a high level of initiative.
  Ability to work in a team.
  Ability to take initiative to organize activities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The initial period of employment will be for one year. Further employment will depend on an annual performance appraisal. The position is announced at the GS5/6 level. Starting salary will depend on relevant qualifications and experience. ICARDA provides 20 days annual leave, a savings scheme, and medical/life insurance.
