During the meeting, participants
presented the accomplishments made in different areas over the last
growing season and discussed work plans for the coming season. Included
in the program was a special session to discuss research priorities
in the NVRS countries and how much those priorities matched with
the recently adopted CGIAR priorities. Also discussed in this session
was the 20052015 ICARDA strategy, which is under development,
and how the new strategy could better serve the NVRS countries.
Prior to the coordination meeting, a one-day meeting was held on
28 September, where the National Coordinators of the five NVRS countries
discussed the major features of a new NVRS regional project with
ICARDA scientists, and agreed on a draft outline to be used for
developing the full proposal, which will be submitted to interested
donors in the near future.
