ICARDA Scientist Honored

Dr Ashutosh Sarker, ICARDA Lentil Breeder, has received a Plaque of Honor from the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) for his contribution to pulse research in Bangladesh. The Plaque was handed over to Dr Sarker by the Director General of BARI, Dr Shahadat Hussain, at a ceremony held at Institute's headquarters in Bangladesh. Dr Hussain thanked Dr Sarker for the contribution he has made both during the time he was a researcher at BARI and now at ICARDA which has led to the development of several improved lentil varieties now grown by farmers in Bangladesh.

The Minister of Agriculture, H.E. M.K. Anwar, also expressed deep satisfaction with Dr Sarker's scientific achievements. In addition, at a special meeting at the Bangladesh Agricultural University, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Ameerul Islam, a resolution was adopted to thank Dr Sarker for his research work. A letter of appreciation was sent to him. Dr Sarker was also interviewed by Bangladesh's highest circulation national daily newspaper, "Prothom Aloo," on his research activities at ICARDA.

Dr Ashutosh Sarker obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and Master’s in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the Bangladesh Agricultural University.
