Khalid Wadan of ICARDA-Afghanistan receiving a certificate of appreciation from H.E. Mr Din Mohammad, Governor of Nangarhar, Afghanistan.
H.E. Haji Din Mohammad, Governor of Nangarhar, praised ICARDA's work in Afghanistan during a Farmers’ Day/New Year celebration organized by the Agricultural Directorate of Nangarhar Province on 21 March 2005. H.E. Din Mohammed awarded a certificate of appreciation to ICARDA for its services to farming communities in the country.

Mr Syed Aziz Zaheer, Director of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, presented an overview of agricultural activities and achievements in the province. He lauded ICARDA's valuable contributions to agricultural development in Nangarhar, and the Center's partnership with the Agricultural Directorate. Mr Zaheer expressed his hope that the partnership between ICARDA and the Agricultural Ministry would play an even stronger role in rebuilding the agricultural sector. He urged other aid and development agencies to follow ICARDA's approach of working in close cooperation with government agencies.

High-ranking government officials; members and representatives of the Provincial Rehabilitation Team (PRT); World Food Program; Relief International; USAID; community leaders; and a large number of farmers also attended the function.
