Dr Malhotra honored
Dr R.S. Malhotra (center) receives the ISPRD Gold Medal from Dr Abdul Kalam, former President of India.
Dr R.S. Malhotra, ICARDA's senior chickpea breeder, has been honored – yet again. He received a gold medal for his contributions to chickpea improvement in countries worldwide. The medal, from the Indian Society of Pulses Research and Development, was presented by H.E. Dr Abdul Kalam, former President of India, during the International Conference on Grain Legumes, held in Kanpur, India, 14-16 February.

The award citation mentions some career highlights: development of nearly 200 legume varieties (released in over 15 countries), training of a generation of young scientists, 97 articles in refereed journals, 23 book chapters, honorary doctorates from three universities, and numerous professional awards, including the CGIAR King Baudouin.Award.
