International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA)

ICARDA seeks to improve and integrate the management of soil, water, nutrients, plants and animals in ways that optimize sustainable agricultural production. Within the management of natural resources, emphasis on on-farm water-use efficiency is an important component of ICARDA's research philosophy. Much of this is done by providing technical backstopping, research planning support, and training to national partners and fostering regional and inter-regional networks. By using this philosophy, ICARDA continues to devolve research responsibilities to national agricultural research systems as they gain maturity in their research capabilities and strengthen their research infrastructure.
