Arabian Peninsula Regional Program

ICARDA’s Arabian Peninsula Regional Program (APRP) works with local organizations in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Yemen. The region faces multiple challenges: water scarcity, harsh climate conditions, increasing food insecurity —all exacerbated by climate change.

Currently, the emphasis in the region is on the development of sustainable rangelands, water efficiency, reduction of harmful pesticides and chemicals, protected agriculture, and capacity development to ensure that improved varieties of crops and more efficient agro-cultural-technologies are implemented and disseminated.
