Nile Valley and Red Sea Regional Program

The Drylands face a constant barrage of challenges, including water scarcity and rapid climate change. To make the Nile Valley and Red Sea region more resilient to its ongoing and coming challenges, ICARDA has launched several initiatives in the area, including: repurposing waste-water in the Nile Delta; creating water points in Sudan to maximize water access; and studying the genetic traits of indigenous ruminants to determine what makes some better suited to surviving and thriving in harsh climates.
