The number of women pursuing careers in the field of science is on the rise. Women remain, however, a significantly smaller proportion of scientists around the world; their male colleagues are estimated to constitute more than 70% of those working in research and experimental development.

With this issue of Science Impacts, ICARDA wishes to encourage more women to pursue a scientific career. The issue also showcases ICARDA’s business case which justifies the importance and recognizes the value of increasing women’s participation in research. It identifies specific approaches to attract and retain more female scientists.
