to meet in Marrakesh for Conference on Pulses

The 2016 International Conference on Pulses for Health, Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture in Drylands is gathering world experts to find a path forward for boosting pulses production in the developing countries through measures in science, development investments, policy and markets.
Date and Place: April 18-20 in Marrakesh, Palais du Congres
About 300 leading agricultural scientists, policy-makers, donors and representatives of private sector organizations are gathering at the 2016 International Conference on Pulses for Health, Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture in Drylands, being held April 18-20 in Marrakesh, to deliberate and address the challenges facing the developing countries in pulses production and the widening gap between supply and demand.

The event, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Morocco, is aiming to amplify the goals of the UN’s 2016 International Year of Pulses of increasing pulses production.  Pulses promise win-win strategy for people and the environment – healthier soils and greater house-hold nutritional security while also generating extra income for farmers. The Conference will be inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Aziz Akhennouch, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Morocco, followed by opening remarks from conference leaders and partner organizations – ICARDA, Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA)-Morocco, Fondation OCP, IFAD, FAO, and the CGIAR Research Program on Grain Legumes.
The event can be followed online using #TalkPulses and at www.icarda.org/pulses
