ICARDA’s upcoming International Conference on Pulses for Health, Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture for Drylands, in Marrakesh, Morocco, 18-20 April, 2016, presents sponsorship opportunities under various categories. With a gathering of national and international audiences from diverse sectors – research scientists, senior level policy-makers, extension, development organizations, regional associations, technology companies, and big and small traders and budding entrepreneurs – the conference will provide excellent visibility to the sponsors’ brands and products throughout the event. Sponsorship package options can be explored on ICARDA’s pulses website.

Conference participants are welcome to register online and submit their paper abstracts. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is March 5, 2016. Accepted papers will receive notifications by March 10, 2016, and full papers need to be submitted by March 30, 2016.

Presentations will be made on various themes including global pulses scenarios of production, consumption and trade; innovative techniques for pulses improvement and adaptation; diversification and sustainable intensification of agri-food systems through pulses; seed systems, input markets and mechanization; nutrition, fortification, health and food security; and social, economic and policy issues related to increasing adoption and impacts assessment. A knowledge sharing event will also take place where country successes, lessons learnt and challenges pertaining policies and other issues will be shared, leading to a Call for Action.

Sessions will explore scientific avenues to enhance pulses production to bridge demand-supply gaps through value addition along the pulse value chain. They will also provide an opportunity to promote networking among various actors of the pulses industry, offering an excellent opportunity to establish new partnerships among scientists, donors and industry players, synergizing a concerted effort to boost global pulse industry.

This conference is being organized by ICARDA, INRA (Morocco) and IFAD in partnership with FAO, OCP Foundation and CRP Grain Legumes on the occasion of the 2016 International Year of Pulses (IYP).
