Aden Aw-Hassan

Dr. Aden Aw-Hassan is an agricultural economist with over 20 years-experience in livelihood analysis, technology feasibility evaluations, policy analysis, and gender research.

Dr. Aw-Hasan joined ICARDA in 2009, as Director of the Center’s Social, Economic and Policy Research Program. His current research interests include impact assessments, technology feasibility evaluations, and studying the social organizations and institutions that govern agricultural research and development.

Before joining ICARDA, Dr. Aw-Hassan worked in an agricultural extension program in Somalia, at both provincial and national levels. In this role, he gained first-hand experience implementing technology transfer programs.

Dr. Aw-Hasan has authored and co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications. He is an active member of several scientific and professional associations, such as the Applied Agricultural Economics Association and the International Association of Agricultural Economists.
