Sawsan Tawkaz is a biotechnologist who joined ICARDA in 1994 and is currently based in Lebanon. In addition to her research activities at ICARDA, she is also working on her Ph.D. in biotechnology at the Sudan Academy of Sciences, which identifies QTL conferring yellow rust resistance in common wheat using a doubled haploid population. Tawkaz holds a M.Sc. in agriculture with a focus on plant biotechnology from the Sudan Academy of Sciences, and a B.Sc. in applied chemistry from Aleppo University in Syria.
