Jordan's Minister of Agriculture Tours ICARDA's Labs in Mushaggar station

During his tour of the Mushaggar station on Saturday, June, 6th 2020, the Jordan Minister of Environment and of Agriculture Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, joined by Dr. Nizar Haddad, Director General of the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) toured ICARDA's laboratories and facilities in the station.  The station belongs to NARC and is hosting ICARDA's soil, water, and dairy products labs in addition to nurseries greenhouse and field trials. Dr. Muhi El-Dine Hilali of ICARDA staff in Jordan welcomed the minister and the delegation and presented ICARDA's research work in Jordan and the collaboration with NARC.

ICARDA's research activities in Jordan include small ruminant production, rangeland management, water harvesting, and watershed and land management. The discussion emphasized the importance of ICARDA's work directly with farmers and communities at several locations in Jordan especially the Badia and the role of the laboratories in Mushaggar in supporting the research conducted. Moreover, the collaboration in the Khanasry station in developing and conducting research on Small ruminant production and dairy quality. NARC DG, Dr. Haddad praised ICARDA's contribution to the station and the role of our scientists in supporting the national research program.
