ICARDA family mourns the passing away of a dear friend and colleague, Dr. Nasri Haddad, Regional Coordinator - West Asia Regional Program

On 24th March, 2016, ICARDA lost one of its outstanding and dedicated staff, Dr. Nasri Haddad, Regional Coordinator - West Asia Regional Program. Dr. Haddad had been associated with ICARDA since 1989 and was dearly loved and admired by the entire ICARDA family. Paying his tribute to the departed soul, Dr. Mahmoud Solh said, “By Dr. Haddad’s death, ICARDA has lost one of its strong and important pillars.”

ICARDA colleagues remembered him for his kindness, wisdom and sincerity. “The death of Dr. Haddad is very shocking and disturbing. This is a huge loss for ICARDA and its partners in many countries where Dr. Haddad has collaborated. His legacy of dedicated commitment, integrity and wisdom will stay with us for the years to come. I have personally lost a very dear friend and colleague,” said Dr. Kamel Shideed.

“He was a man with rare qualities who bravely resisted his illness till the end,” reminisced Dr. Theib Oweis. Expressing her shock and grief, Dr. Barbara Rischkowsky said that she had been relying on Dr. Haddad’s experience and wisdom since she joined ICARDA in November 2006. Dr. Aden Aw-Hassan fondly recalled his professionalism and support to all. There was an outpour of grief and tributes from members of partner organizations as well.

ICARDA staff conveyed their heartfelt condolences to Dr. Nasri Haddad’s bereaved family.
