We are pleased to announce to all interested institutions and experts the First Water Productivity in Agriculture Conference. Organised by the Collaborative Platform on Water Productivity of the regional initiative on Water Scarcity for the Near East and North Africa, the Conference will be held on the 04 to 06 December 2019 in Hammamet, Tunisia.

Tunisia, as the host country offers a rich and long experience in improving crop water productivity and innovating at various levels and through various initiatives. It has achieved remarkable results and impacts in improving the sustainable management of water resources ad food security.

The conference and field day (04 to 06 December 2019) are open to all interested institutions and experts to bring a wide range of water productivity experts and stakeholders and members of the collaborative Platform network together to share their knowledge and experiences and identify new ways to promote water productivity and strengthen the partnership.

Objectives

The conference aim is to bring together experts working on improving water productivity, from different perspectives to debate on how WP improvements can reinforce agriculture sustainability, how bridging the gap between actual productivity in some farming systems and the potential, as well as how improved WP contributes to promoting economic development, maintaining social stability and protecting the environment for rural areas and equally cities. Specific objectives are addressed through core questions organized under three themes and a contribution to the world’s soil day. 

Submission, acceptance, and confirmation of abstracts

The call for extended abstracts is open until 30 July 2019. The Organizing committee is currently accepting abstracts that will compete for oral and poster presentations during the conference. Abstracts should be related to one of the three themes identified by the Organizing and Scientific committees, and incorporate case studies from different countries. The extended abstracts shall be written in English or French, maximum 2 pages.

The extended abstracts must be submitted in the prescribed format (email: [email protected]), indicating “Call for extended abstracts/Your full name/Preferred Theme” in the subject line. They will be revised by the WPConf2019 Scientific Committee, and authors will be notified with a decision regarding their abstract submission by 30 August 2019 and details for oral and poster presentations will be provided.

May: launching of the call for submission
30 July: extended abstracts submission deadline
30 August: notification of acceptance of extended abstracts, posters, demonstration
15 October: deadline of acceptance of the revised extended abstracts, posters, demonstration in final versions & deadline for the Video/Media contest and side events.
